About Wendy S. Jones
Wendy S. Jones has devoted her entire professional career to the practice of Family Law. She was a Family Law paralegal with the firm for fourteen years, completing Whittier Law School as a night student during the last four of those years. Under the guidance and mentorship of long-time Family Law attorney Marlene Abel (retired), Wendy has practiced with the same firm and in the same community throughout her career. Wendy is a Certified Family Law Specialist, with a special focus in alternative dispute resolution for couples and families, including work as a collaborative attorney, a mediator, and an advising attorney to those in mediation. Wendy also represents clients in litigation and prepares and reviews Premarital and other types of agreements.
In addition to her almost thirty years of experience in the field of family law, Wendy has taken extensive training to further elevate the quality of her representation. As well as meeting the continuing education requirements of a Certified Specialist, Wendy has completed advanced collaborative training and intensive mediation training. She is one of the original members and a past president of one of the first collaborative practice groups in Southern California, A Better Divorce. Helping clients find and pursue the process which best meets their legal, emotional, and financial needs, whether it be traditional litigation, collaboration, or mediation, is a passion for Wendy.
Wendy has been a director of the South Bay Bar Association Board since 2002, an officer since 2007, and is currently President-elect of that organization. She served for most of those years as the chair of the Community Outreach committee, spearheading events such as the Association’s annual benefit for the Richstone Family Center and its Pro Bono clinic in celebration of National Law Day. Prior to serving on the Bar Association Board, Wendy was a director of the South Bay Women Lawyers’ Association Board.
Wendy received the Honorable Benjamin Aranda III Outstanding Public Service Award in 2002, which recognized her work as a volunteer attorney for the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Domestic Violence project. She is a 10-year member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She has regularly been among those honored annually for their volunteer work on behalf of the South Bay Bar Association, the community, and the judicial system.
Wendy has been married for 29 years to Patrick Jones, now retired from American Airlines, and they have a treasured family to which Wendy devotes most of her leisure time, including two adult children, Jason and Jennifer, and two grandchildren.
